The fish and chips that had the licorice batter... very tasty, probably the best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time! Didn’t taste like the licorice candy (thankfully), but had an interesting sweetness and very slight anise/licorice twist to it, very subtle, but it worked! Better than the regular fish and chips!! Highly recommend this dish, and the servers were great too.

Great food, especially the lamb stew! Comfortable atmosphere and helpful, friendly service. I think they are one of the most reasonably priced eateries in the area. As it is known, many other places in Reykjavik are unaffordable! Split between two people, I think our bill total was around $40 USD for two main dishes and beers. Really cool artwork in the downstairs hall, too!

Modern designed restaurant with a great choice of ale beer and fantastic food. The bread basket and the lamb sandwich were simply delicious and one of the best meals I had in recent time. I can only recommend to visit Frederiksen Ale House!

Amazing Icelandic Fish & Chips!! The hint of licorice in the batter was very tasty. The beer selection was fantastic along with the service!

Nice, casual and charming place with a good selection of local draft beers (which is the only thing I tried during this visit). The staff was delightful and very helpful. The Viking room downstairs would be the perfect place to throw a party! Would definitely recommend if you would want to try something local, easy and tourist friendly.
