Well managed museum and art gallery. The guide is very helpful and always keen to explain everything. Went there when they have a temporary Japanese exhibition. Was so nice to see different collections and artworks
A good place to visit. Free entry and until recently a free car park, sadly pay and display now. There's plenty of impressive oil paintings, some massive in size accompanied by marble statues. The main reason for the visit I took was for the replica victoriana Street with lots to see, very atmospheric. I first went in the street as a very young boy and going many times over the years. Now taking my own young children is a great experience. There's also an expansive collection of old photos of Salford, "how we used to live" sort of thing, who knows you may see yourself in one. Many an hour spent in there. All salfordians should visit this place and those from outside will enjoy too.
Salford Museum and Art Gallery is best place to have a look at the history of Salford and Victorian art and architecture. I loves it. It has masonry pillars and detailed masonry elements on the exterior and within the interior. The aesthetic design of the building has evolved over a 200-year life cycle to produce a unified structure. I recommend having a visit
Fascinating place to walk around and soak up the atmosphere even smell the coke fire and listen to the horse's hoofs along the cobbled streets. The art museum is also excellent a great day out for all the family. Food and service in the cafeteria great.
A really interesting wander around the gallery and Victorian Street. Good atmosphere, lovely coffee & cake. Local artisan ceramics, pottery, jewelry for sale too. Very enjoyable and informative.
