So out of place looking compared to the rest of SF but so beautiful nonetheless. There’s an indoors for like an art museum and events but its hours are questionable. I’ve personally never been inside (last I tried there was a private event). Great place just to take pictures and relax. Definitely a fun place to stop by if you’re exploring the city, and street parking is typically not too difficult to find and free.
The palace of fine arts is such a beautiful spot in San Francisco! So close to the Marina and surrounded by the most beautiful houses. The lake is beautiful and you can see a lot of birds, including seagulls and ducks, and different trees. Great place to have a walk and enjoy the views. The palace is open (I don’t think it’s open on Mondays because that’s when we went and it was not) but inside there’s a small cafeteria and many games to play. Great place to enjoy some time with your family!
Pretty park and monument to enjoy a stroll around. Tourists like you & me galore. Make it count by also strolling around the Marina district and watch all those pretty houses in all those quiet streets. For example, the Palace of Fine Arts could be your stop in between cycling the Golden Gate and a Chestnut Street Art Deco hunt (or lunch, or both).

I don’t know what’s about this palace that really grabs my attention every time I pass by it. Between the grand architecture, the serene lake surrounding it, or the beautiful trees — maybe it’s the overwhelming sense of tranquility I get when I stroll through this section of San Francisco. I just enjoy this part of the Presidio for some reason. I got lucky on a morning visit to the city with sunshine and snap some fun shots! Love this spot as a run in SF too.
